2. Key U.S. court / federal context

This area of law is evolving quickly. Courts have recently allowed enforcement of some state laws (for example, Texas), and litigation or new state legislation can change obligations for websites. Site obligations may shift with new court decisions or state action.

3. European Union & selected member states

The EU is working on cross-border approaches to age assurance that aim to let users prove age while minimizing personal data exposure. Several EU member states (for example, France and Germany) are also taking national steps to require or enforce age checks for adult sites. Follow EU Digital Services workstreams for updates.
